Who is this child and what have u done with my son?

We just finished dinner and this is the first time in the history of Jacksons life that he ate all his dinner and had 2 more helpings.

Jeremy and I ate chicken and mushroom ravioli so I made the kids beef ravioli with those smiley face potatoes. They both gobbled it up plus more in no time flat!

When Jackson was done he put his plate in the kitchen and said "I order beef ravioli for tomorrow too."

Meals, especially dinner, is one of my least favorite parts of the day because its always a fight. This has to be the BEST dinner EVER!

Happy March 1st!

Only 28 more days...again....

So, it's officially been 1 year since I posted on this blog. Very ironic that the day i decided to open it up and write something, the last headline was "Only 28 more days..." and it talks about Jackson turning 6. Well, it's now 28 days until he turns 7! I honestly can't believe it. He has really become a great young boy and I look forward to learning and growing with him. Love you Jackson!

Only 28 more days...

and Jackson will be SIX years old! I cannot believe this! He is going to be SIX! I seriously remember like it was yesterday when he was first born and we were still in San Diego. Where did the time go?

Olympian in the making?!?!?

Well, not so sure about that but Jack has sure grown over the past year. Last year he wouldn't last but a minute on the ice before quitting and now he's doing laps!! After we got home, he was sound asleep in no time... :)

I just wanna dance!

Both of the boys love music, but I think that Mikey has really taken a special liking to it. Whenever he gets the opportunity, no matter if it's on the radio, the tv, or from his toys...he will dance to the music!

Apology...

Okay, so I had such high hopes to be better at adding blog entries but as you can see, I think I've gotten worse. So, sorry folks...I "promise" (with my fingers crossed) to do better!

If you eat your dinner, you'll grow big and strong

So last night at dinner, we had lasagne and Jackson liked it (he doesn't like much and dinner is usually a FIGHT). So, he was eating it faster than I think I've ever seen him eat dinner and he says, "I think I just grew a little."

Love it!

Things Mikey says...

Right now, at 16 months old, these are the words in Mikey's vocab:

- mama [so precious]
- was that?
- hello [loves to talk on the phone or anything that he pretends to be a phone]
- hi
- bye bye [always way after the person leaves, but hey]
- shoes
- socks
- hut hut [hike]
- honk honk [while squeezing someone's nose, of course]
- go [state]
- uh oh
- we think he said jack today too!

And a bunch of other "chinese" ... as JT from daycare thought Michael spoke since it was all jibberish!

Oh, I am beginning to "like" Halloween

Halloween has never been one of my favorite holidays. However, in the past few years now that we have kids, it is really becoming a fun holiday (still not a favorite, but it's at least more fun).

The night before halloween, we carve our pumpkins so they are fresh and beautiful! This year, we had a mummy, frankenstein, bats and the good old standard. This year felt like a Star Wars year so Jackson was Darth Vader and Michael was Chewbaca. They had to be the cutest kids ever!

Jackson had a fun party and parade at school, then Jeremy came and got them both from daycare to bring them to my work for more candy. They had a great time touring my work and getting candy from everyone.
Then, as the clock struck 6pm, and the blow of the horn went off, Jackson and his dad went out to into the darkness to scower the city of free candy. It was pretty cold and windy that night, so Mikey and I decided to hang back and hand out candy. Which he thoroughly enjoyed. He was so excited to hold the candy bucket and pass it out and everyone loved his outfit.
Almost 2 hours later, Jackson and dad showed up with about 15 pounds of teeth-rotting candy. They ran into a kid from Jack's class and his dad so they ended up trick or treating with them. Oh, so much fun. Despite how cold it was, Jackson came back dripping in sweat. Unbelievable!

Annual Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

One of our favorite things to do is go to the Pumpkin Patch as a family. It sets the tone for the upcoming holidays and it's just plain fun. We absolutely love to hand-pick our pumpkins at the St. John's Apple Orchard, ride on the wagons, go through the maze, and of course play on the huge inflatable jumpers. Oh, don't forget the donuts and apple cider.

This year was a little different, in that Jeremy wasn't able to join us for our first trip to the pumpkin patch due to his work schedule. We still went since it was getting so close to halloween, we were afraid that the pumpkins would be gone if we waited another week so, Grandma went with us and we had a good time considering how cold it was. However, everyone in our side of the state also decided to go as well so it was absolutely insane. We couldn't even get cider and donuts b/c the lines were so long. I guess that meant another trip with papa was going to have to happen! Oh, too bad! :)

Michael had a great time exploring the patch and touching all the pumpkins. He also adored riding in the wagon with Jack, his hero.

The case of the missing teeth...

Jackson's bottom 2 teeth have been loose for a while now and for whatever reason, he just wouldn't let me pull them out - not sure why not?!!? So, on Oct 9th last week he was at daycare wrestling with his friend and oops, got one kicked out! He was so excited to put his tooth in the tooth pillow that his great-grandmother made (thanks Helene for keeping this stuff!) and for the visit from the tooth fairy. It was a very exciting day! The tooth fairy did make a quick appearance, well we believe she must have but we didn't actually see her, because there was a non-crisp $1 bill under Jack's pillow in the morning.

Then, the very next day we were driving along to go somewhere and the next thing I know, Jack says mom my second tooth just came out! So, we got another visit from the tooth fairy and yet another dollar. Thanks tooth fairy!

Michael is walking!

Michael has been dabbling a little here and there with a few steps but over last weekend he started to try more often and go further. Of course, mom and dad were out of town for a wedding so we didn't get to see it first hand. But he quickly showed us what he could do. Here he is at Jack's football game.

Jackson starts Kindergarten!

Welcome to Neff Elementary Jackson!

On September 8, Jackson started AM kindergarten in Mrs. Patterson/Hoesl's classroom. There are a couple of kids in his class that he knows from DK at St. Michael's and he's also meeting more great new friends. He has so far enjoyed no dresscode like he had at St. Michael's - but it's definitely harder on mom and dad since he'd go in his pj's if we let him.

The little observer...

Michael is very good at mimicking something after someone else does it, even if it's not right away.

This past Saturday we were at Helene's and I had a glass of water on the coffee table (within in fast Michael's reach) and I saw him coming. So I quickly grabbed the glass of water and drank what was left then gave the cup to Michael to play with. Well, he didn't want the glass he wanted water, so he crawled, with the glass in hand, into the kitchen to the water cooler stood up and put the cup under the spout and tried to turn the knob to fill up the glass with more water! We thought it was quite impressive!!!

Then tonight, I had to vacuum the floor yet again since he seems to make a VERY big mess on the floor (instead of getting into his mouth) everytime he eats. The vacuum was just sitting there unplugged ready for the cord to be wound back up, the safety cap was back on the outlet, and Michael comes along. He sees the cord and he picks up the end of it and tries to plug it in! Just like mommy!

He is truly and fun and wonderful little guy!

Too funny...

As Jack gets older he sure is picking up on things and it was so funny today. Due to the rain, we were stuck inside to play and Jack was sitting next to me watching baby Michael play and Jack says to me, "They sure grow up fast." I wonder where he got that saying from?!!?

Birthday Celebration

Last Sunday we celebrated Michael's 1st birthday!

We went over to Grandma Helene's house since it was a gorgeous day and Grandma Barb, Aunt M, Jeff, Uncle Danny, and Christina all joined in the festivities. After swimming and dinner, it was time to sing Happy Birthday and eat CAKE!!
It was Michael's first cake experience and I think he enjoyed it, what do you think?

After cake, it was so time for a bath. We stripped him down and plopped him into the sink. Which I think he also enjoyed!

Then, it was time for presents. It was his first time opening presents so he didn't quite get it or what he was supposed to do. Jack had no problem helping out!

Oh, love a baby! Give kisses to baby...

We all had a great time and now Michael is a big 1 year old!! Happy Birthday Mikey! We all love you tons!

Can I sleep you with you tonight?

So, Jackson is in this phase of wanting to sleep with me every night and it was the funniest thing the other day, he says "Mom, can I sleep with you tonight? I can sleep with you tonight, then daddy tomorrow, then me, then daddy - see it's like a pattern."

Happy 1st Birthday Michael!

Well, one year ago today Michael Fitzgerald joined the Horn family! I can't believe how fast it has gone. He is doing fantastic and we will be having a little party for him on Sunday with YUMMY CAKE! I will post pics - I'm sure it will be interesting! Stay tuned...

Can you say "mama"?

Oh, yes...I heard it clear as day. On July 4th, Michael reached for me and said "MAMA"!!!!

He also said it again today...it melts your heart.

Oh, the funny things they say...

I knew I should've wrote them down right after Jack said them since I only remember 2 and he's been making me LAUGH OUT LOUD the past couple of days! Here are two from the past couple of days, so I'll add the others if I remember them!

- So we are driving by Best Buy, and Jack say's "Oh, there's Best Buy." Yup. "I'm not really a fan of Best Buy" he said.

- On Thursday night, he asks - "Do I have to go to daycare tomorrow?" I said no. He asks, "Do you have to go to work tomorrow?" I said no. He raised up his right hand for a high five and said, "Oh yeah, a day off!"

- Today, they must be doing something with teh city water, it is coming in brown. so jackson just came in and said, "I know why the water is brown." Oh, why? "Because it's mixed with pop."
